Willdan Group Soars 13% on Earnings Beat and Raised Guidance

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Willdan Group Inc. (NASDAQ: WLDN) shares surged 13.3% in after-hours trading Thursday after the company reported second-quarter financial results that significantly exceeded Wall Street expectations and prompted management to raise its full-year outlook.

The provider of professional, technical, and consulting services reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.07 for the second quarter of 2026, topping analyst consensus estimates of $1.34 by $0.73. Revenue rose 23.5% year-over-year to $117.2 million, comfortably beating the $102.33 million expected by analysts.

Full-Year Guidance Raised

On the back of strong second-quarter performance, Willdan raised its financial targets for fiscal year 2026. The company now projects full-year adjusted EPS between $5.00 and $5.15, putting the midpoint of $5.08 ahead of previous consensus expectations.

Net revenue for the full year is now expected to land between $415 million and $430 million, while adjusted EBITDA guidance was raised to a range of $103 million to $107 million.

“We delivered strong performance in the second quarter of 2026,” said Mike Bieber, Willdan’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Net revenue grew 23% year over year, including 18% organic growth, reflecting strong demand for our energy solutions. Margin expansion was driven by favorable business mix, operating leverage, and growth in our commercial business.”

  • GAAP Diluted EPS: $1.58 for the quarter, up 53.4% year-over-year.
  • Net Income: Increased 57.7% to $24.3 million.
  • Adjusted EBITDA: Climbed 50.6% to $33.0 million.
  • Contract Revenue: Totaled $231.0 million, representing a 33.2% increase from the prior-year period.

For the first six months of fiscal 2026, net revenue reached $209.7 million, up 16.3% overall—or 20.8% on a normalized basis, accounting for one fewer calendar week relative to the prior-year period. Adjusted diluted EPS for the six-month period reached $2.98, marking a 39.3% increase year-over-year.
