Geely E2 Launches in Europe Starting at €19,490 to Challenge Compact EV Market

BRUSSELS — Chinese automotive giant Geely has officially expanded into the European market with the launch of its compact electric hatchback, the Geely E2. Known in China as the Xingyuan, the best-selling model enters Europe with competitive pricing aimed directly at established rivals.

Orders for the Geely E2 have opened in Belgium, with first customer deliveries scheduled to begin in September.

Introductory Discount Undercuts Rivals

Geely announced a standard starting price of €21,490 for the E2 in Belgium. However, to mark its European debut, the automaker is offering a €2,000 introductory discount, bringing the entry-level price down to €19,490. The duration of this promotion has not yet been specified.

The vehicle will be available in three trim levels: Pro, Max, and Ultra.

At its promotional starting price of €19,490, the Geely E2 directly undercuts key competitors in the segment. In Belgium, the BYD Dolphin Surf starts at €20,475, giving Geely a roughly €1,000 price advantage. Another major rival, the Renault 5, starts significantly higher at €24,900.

China’s Top-Selling Electric Vehicle

The model enters Europe with strong market momentum. In China, where it is sold as the Geely Xingyuan, the electric hatchback became the country’s best-selling car in 2025, recording 465,775 sales.

Data from China EV DataTracker shows the model maintained its lead through the first half of 2026, delivering 194,159 units between January and June. Depending on the region, the vehicle is also marketed internationally as the Geely EX2.

Key Specifications and Features

The Geely E2 measures 4,135 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Depending on the trim level, curb weight ranges between 1,290 kg and 1,365 kg.

Standard equipment includes:

• 16-inch alloy wheels
• 375-liter rear luggage capacity plus a 70-liter front trunk (frunk)
• 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen
• Heated front seats, seven airbags, and multi-link rear suspension

The base-spec E2 Pro is equipped with a 35 kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTP-certified range of 252 kilometers. Higher Max and Ultra trims feature a larger 47 kWh battery, extending the WLTP range to 345 kilometers.

While final powertrain specifications for the European production model are pending official confirmation, global market versions feature a single rear-axle electric motor producing 85 kW (114 horsepower).

Prior to its European arrival, the vehicle launched in several global markets, including Australia, Brazil, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Thailand. Geely has not yet confirmed which additional European countries will follow Belgium in receiving the E2.
