First monkeypox virus detected in Japan

The first case of monkeypox virus in Japan was detected in the capital, Tokyo. According to the news in Reuters, monkeypox virus was detected in a man in his 30s in Tokyo.

The World Health Organization has designated the monkeypox virus, which has been seen in more than 75 countries and 16,000 cases recorded, as a global emergency.

The monkeypox virus has so far killed five people in Africa. The virus, which is known to be transmitted through close contact, causes skin lesions and flu-like symptoms.
